Hospitals are filled with microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses that can contribute to the development and spread of infections. Infections can be potentially very harmful to our patients and staff, so it is important to prevent and control the spread of infections. Brightshores strives to create a culture of safety for both patients and staff. Infection prevention and control plays a vital role in this.
Evidence tells us that if hospitals take steps to prevent and control infections by training staff in routine practices like; regular hand washing, wearing protective clothing, taking additional precautions when dealing with infectious patients and disposing of waste in the appropriate manner, they can reduce infection rates.
